L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate

The L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, one of the most prestigious horse races in Cape Town, will see 16 thoroughbreds running 1600m on the Kenilworth Racecourse for the winner’s purse of R1 million. The eleventh L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate will feature 12 races as opposed to the usual ten, with one of the new races being sponsored by the UK's Goodwood Racecourse. The winner of this year’s race will automatically be entered into the USA Breeders Cup’s Mile Division and the Glorius Goodwood will run its Peninsula Stakes on the card along with the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate. Glorius Goodwood, England’s most cherished racing festival, will run its Peninsula Stakes on the day as one of the two internationally recognised races. As always, dressing the part in signature blue and white is an important aspect of the day. A variety of ticket options are available from Computicket, starting at R250 for the Style Lounge tickets, which grants you access to the Style Lounge Village, the horse race and after party. Two picnic specials are available from R600 and R750 per person respectively. The Stud Club tickets, at R1 200 each, includes entrance to the most popular marquee, complimentary drinks and access to an on-site makeup artist. The most prestigious tickets, the Jockey Club tickets, are available for R2 500 each, which will give you access to ultra-exclusive suites and hospitality areas, a three-course seated meal, complimentary drinks, entrance to the Jockey Club and the illustrious after party featuring top international acts and entertainment. L’Ormarins Queen's Plate takes place on 11 January 2014. For more information, contact Katherine Gray via katherine@lqp.co.za or visit lqp.co.za. Text Astrid Sanders
