Lager As It Should Be

Much-loved Cape Town micro brewery, Devil's Peak Brewing Co., has just added to their long list of craft ales with their brand new small-batch offering - Devil's Peak Lager.

With clean, crisp tasting notes and a smooth malt character, this mildly floral lager was launched (after many tries to get it just right) with the hopes of bringing craft beer to a larger market. This is their high quality version of the age-old German beer and it's set to appeal to more South Africans with a desire for variety.

'We're a lager-loving nation, and now through craft, we can experience our favourite beverage with more sophistication', says Steven Jowell, managing director of DPBC. '[It] highlights the tradition of beer crafted with care, to be distinctive and full of flavour. In simple terms, it's beer as it should be.'

Easy drinking and paired effortlessly with the likes of gourmet burgers and waffles (as per the launch menu), if craft beer is the 'gateway beer' then this lager is most certainly the final destination. 'Beer, like fine wine, can challenge a sophisticated palate, be paired beautifully with food and still be the refreshing, delicious drink that we so love', Steve adds.

The lager will be available from August in 340ml bottles at leading retailers nationwide.
