HOTY Awards 2013

The annual House and Leisure House of the Year 2013 awards were held on 4 September at the stunning Youngbloods venue in the Beautifull Life building on Bree Street in Cape Town, decorated with drops of Designers Guild Christian Lacroix wallpaper from Home Fabrics and tropical-inspired flowers by Chris Koch, while furniture was provided by First Impressions. Thirst Bar Services served guests bubbly and wines from Glen Carlou while snacking on beautiful food provided by Mezepoli and desserts by Escoffier. HL Rising Star, Maps Mapoyane was our host and MC for the evening, introducing Kevin Penwarden (CEO of SA Home Loans) and Naomi Larkin (Editor of House of Leisure), to hand over the award for the winning home. The award for HL’s House of the Year 2013 went to House #9 - ‘A Clean Start’, owned by Craig and Colleen Sutherland and designed by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA) and Three14 Architects. The owners received a bespoke Carrol Boyes trophy. After the announcement, guests were entertained by musician Mathew Gold before DJ Sox hit the decks. Everyone went home with a goodie bag filled with House and Leisure magazines, Glen Carlou wine, a Carrol Boyes wine stopper, Tomes Chocolate, a Mia Widlake tea towel, Olive Pride Olive Oil and a Love Milo Milk Jug. *The blogger who accurately predicted the winning home is Simone Abrahams from Added Luxury, who wins a Droog birdhouse, strap and book worth R 2 365.
