The world’s first celebrity chef, Marco Pierre White, will be turning up the heat with South Africa’s first Michelin-starred chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, as the international headliners at South Africa’s largest culinary event. The Good Food and Wine Show kicks off in Cape Town on 2-4 June at the CTICC, while the Joburg edition follows at the Ticketpro Dome on 28-30 July, and finally, Durban has its turn on 27-29 October at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
Local foodies can expect the inside scoop on the latest culinary trends as well as a chance to interact with an exciting line-up of food personalities, including well-known chef and restaurateur Joao Da Fonseca (popularly known as J’Something), who will share his ‘secret’ recipes by preparing a tasty feast at each of the shows.
Reza Mahammad, Jenny Morris, Lentswe Bhengu, Sarah Graham, Neill Anthony, Lisa Raleigh, Sherwyn Weaich and Vanessa Marx are also contributing to this year’s offering, in addition to headline sommeliers Lloyd Jusa (Saxon Hotel), Gregory Mutambe (Twelve Apostles Hotel) and Tinashe Nyamudoka (The Test Kitchen) – all of whom will share some of their fine wine knowledge with showgoers.
Watch out for the biggest elephant cake in the world, a chance to observe Marco and Jan Hendrik in action and, of course, there’ll be a wide selection of vendors and interactive installations showcasing food and fare from around the world.
Divided into nine exhibition areas – Market, Street Food, Gourmet, Baking, Kids, Wellness, Lifestyle, Wine, Beer and Alcohol – as well as nine theatres, from Chef’s Table to Cake Deco Lab, the Good Food and Wine Show will cover everything you need or want to know about all things culinary.
