The Sanlam Investments FoodWineDesign Fair is around the corner, and the HL team’s creative fire is being kindled by the thought of so much talent rounded up in one space. Held annually on the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre in Johannesburg, the Fair has become the go-to place for culture vultures and foodies alike, as it brings together some of the top handcrafted products and artisanal food and wine the country has to offer. This year sees a return of many of the firm favourites, but also a new focus on collaborations and special curations. Take for instance, Carpenter’s Alley. A nod to the fine woodwork South African designers excel in, this section of the Fair will have local designers collaborating to display their craftsmanship in novel ways. Also, organisers Artlogic are curating a Beach and Christmas Experience, which will be a one-stop shop for Summer inspiration and festive gifts. Think Sootcookie ceramics, Vilebrequin men’s swimming trunks, Consol water bottles, Liz Wood’s Christmas cakes, stylish Bamboo Revolution watches, Zacca plastic wallets, Zimbabwean embroidered linen, bamboo chopping boards and more. House and Leisure will, as usual, have a stand at the Fair, and this year we’re planning something really special. Top chef Coco Reinharz will be preparing treats for visitors which will go down perfectly with a selection of Creation Wines. Pop past and say hi, enjoy some local cuisine and meet the team. The FoodWineDesign Fair runs from 23-25 November 2012 on the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner. Entrance is R80, and if you arrive on a bike, you pay half price.
