Yes, it happens to us all. So much to do, so little time, but always with the best intentions. You make notes-to-self on your phone and on yellow stickies in your diary, but you’re still taken by surprise when you realise, alas and alack, it’s Mother’s Day this very weekend.
Mum, at this stage of your journey through life together, is quite possibly used to your last minute flowers or chocolates, and last minute is clearly the case if you’ve just woken up to the fact now. If, however, mum likes a little tipple from time to time, you might consider ditching the blooms this year in favour of a bottle that’ll have her feeling special as can be – even better if it’s opened during the course of a dinner made (by you, of course) just for her.
Mums being highly regarded by the good folk of Warwick Wine Estate – matriarch and respected winemaker Norma Ratcliffe is something of an uber-mum herself – they have made life a little easier for us lot with their Mother’s Day campaign, spearheaded by The First Lady wines – a juicy, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and an Unoaked Chardonnay.
The wines were launched several years back to honour Norma’s reputation as ‘The First Lady of South African wine’. But we think your mum will love being honoured with a bottle (or case – go on!) of wine dedicated to her – the First Lady in your life.
Warwick The First Lady Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 and Warwick The First Lady Unoaked Chardonnay 2013 are both available from leading outlets at a special Mother’s Day price of between R60 and R65 per bottle.
