Drink This: Back-to-work Bubbles

Got the back-at-work blues? Survived your first round of meetings, memos and moronic co-workers? Now that’s worth celebrating! Yes, we know you probably drank your fill of bubbly at that tiresome family Christmas lunch and then carried on all the way through New Year’s Eve and beyond, but by now you should be ready for a hit of fizz (sparkling wine made the méthode champenoise way being a brilliant upper and all. Yes, really. Negative ions and all that). When two bottles of the Boschendal Grande Cuvée Brut 2009 MCC (about R135) landed in our office, we certainly didn’t complain. Au contraire, we guzzled it down and decided you’d probably like it as much as we did. Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it’s deliciously dry, with a bite of biscuit and dollop of freshness. The winner of last year’s Amorim Tsogo Sun Cap Classique Challenge 2013, it also garnered four-and-a-half stars in the 2014 edition of the Platter’s guide. You deserve it! Text Leigh Robertson
