Dipping Olive Oils
You may have visited Kloovenburg wine estate in Riebeek Kasteel to sip on some of their top-end wines (particularly its award-winning flagship Shiraz), but have you given their famous olive products a taste too? Their quality olive oil has recently seen Kloovenburg recognised as one of the world’s top 15 producers of extra virgin olive oil. Kloovenburg Olives boasts over 40 different product lines, offering everything from delicious bottled olives, tapenades, sundried and smoked olives, to oil infusions and cold extracted extra virgin olive oil. Not bad for something that started out in 1993 as a means to make pocket money for Kloovenburg owner, Annalene du Toit. She says, 'I started bottling olives for the first time almost 20 years ago, and all the other products have been gradually added over the years. I am constantly on the lookout for new ideas and new ways of presenting olives. It’s my passion.' The latest addition to the Kloovenburg Olives family are these wonderful dipping olive oils, which come in an assortment of intriguing flavours. Annalene tells HL, 'The flavours of the dipping oils are some of my and my family's favourites. Instead of having to mix these every time, I started bottling and selling them. I like to say that I make them for food lovers that don’t have the time to make them themselves'.
