David Adjaye’s First SA Project

One of last year’s inspiring Design Indaba speakers was British architect David Adjaye, who we chatted to a couple of years ago when he was part of AZA2012 Biennale Festival in Cape Town. DESIGNING_SOUTHAFRICA (D_ZA) has just made the exciting announcement that David Adjaye will be designing the new Pavilion between Park Station and the Blue Room in Johannesburg, which forms part of the City of Johannesburg’s growing Food & Cultural Hub. The project, commissioned by DESIGNING_SOUTH AFRICA (who will also manage the project) will be done in collaboration with the Johannesburg Development Agency and the Mayor of Johannesburg, will use the power of design to truly transform this public space. We’ll keep you updated as news comes in about this awesome project. In the meantime, here are five of our favourite architectural designs by Adjaye Associates. 1.
