celebrating small producers, big on quality at the publik wine fair

Choosing to endorse the increasingly favoured philosophy of natural winemaking – wines made with minimal cellar intervention by winemakers intent on honouring the fruit, the soil and the land – Publik Wine is offering oenophiles and enthusiasts yet another chance to experience these lesser known grapes in a relaxed setting. The inaugural Publik Wine Fair, taking place at Publik's distribution centre in Salt River, Cape Town, will feature over 100 different wines poured by more than 25 winemakers; a celebration of artisan vino.

Small producers, big on quality – Publik Wine Fair

These wines, made in limited quantities using sustainable farming methods, make only a tiny dent in the Cape’s overarching vinous marketplace. There are not many of them, they’re special, and Publik is one of the few wine bars in the city – the country, even – that provides a platform for people to taste, explore, ask questions and enjoy a selection of varieties and bottles that aren’t overtly available. Mobilised by Publik founder David Cope, the event is an opportunity for he and his team to share some of their favourite wines while acquainting you with the winemakers responsible. Taste rare, small-production wines and unusual grape varieties as well as engage with independent winemakers and growers who share a passion for crafting quality.
