Avant-Garde Pairing Menu

Wine lovers looking for a unique tasting experience need look no further than Avondale’s seasonal wine pairing menu at their Paarl Estate. For the next two months, visitors to the estate can enjoy a unique pairing menu created by local celebrity chef, Reuben Riffel. This year's tasting menu explores the delicate balance between food, wine and art. As Reuben explains, ‘A beautiful dish, well executed, is art. Beautifully crafted wine, such as Avondale’s, is art. We wanted to explore the individual elements that - when in perfect balance and harmony - produce a culinary masterpiece.’ Titled Avant-garde, the concept is experimental, innovative and artistic with a visual representation of the six bite-sized courses in a deconstructed raw form. The tasting includes five organic Avondale wines and a Méthode Cap Classique enhanced by Reuben’s own simplistic style and delicate flavours. Dishes such as a Malay-style chicken curry with creamy rice and a Poppadom and sticky braised beef with puff pastry and mushroom crème promise to satisfy. The Avant-garde Pairing is available at the Avondale farm from 15 November 2013 to 15 January 2014. The cost is R150 per person and is by appointment only.
