As we begin to wave goodbye to winter, the thought of leaving our cosy nests becomes more appealing. Luckily, August is packed with great events for food lovers, art enthusiasts and everyone in between. We've rounded up just a few of the happenings we're looking forward to this month.

WHEN 2 August 2017 to 13 September 2017 WHERE Salon 91, Kloof St, Gardens, Cape Town WHAT A solo show of recent paintings by Zarah Cassim, The Guise of Reality is a series of natural landscapes that explore perception. The dreamlike images have been created through oil paint being continuously applied, wiped away and diluted with solvent.

WHEN 11 to 13 August 2017 WHERE Various venues in Riebeek Kasteel, Western Cape WHAT A collaboration between artists, art curators and galleries based in Riebeek Valley, Solo Studios 2017 provides an opportunity for art lovers to visit artists in their studios. This year 16 artists, five group exhibitions, 10 authors and five photographers are participating.
