1. Wooden Wonders

Centuries-old woodworking techniques will be on display this year as part of Designing in Wood, a feature curated by design influencer and activist Cathy O’Clery that will showcase the craft and skills that go into creating wooden furniture and accessories. Timber will also get another showstopping moment at the 100% Design Café, which is being created by acclaimed local wooden furniture makers Houtlander and sponsored by House and Leisure – see you there!

2. 100 Beautiful Bowls

Celebrated ceramicist Andile Dyalvane, the Feature Designer of the Year for 2018, will be showing a solo presentation called 100 Beautiful Bowls, created especially for the fair. Cape Town-based Dyalvane founded Imiso Ceramics in 2006 with Zizipho Poswa, and has since exhibited all over the world, so it’s always a good time to celebrate his talent.

3. 100% Apartment

New to the fair this year is 100% Apartment, an urban apartment full of furniture, homeware and contemporary art created by Mother City Hardware in collaboration with Whatiftheworld gallery.

4. Future Offices

Biophilia, the human urge to affiliate with other forms of life, sets an unusual tone for this year’s 100% Office, a platform curated by interior designer Alice Hutton of Joburg-based firm O & Co.

5. Next Generation

The Young Gauteng section will showcase some of the latest work by Gauteng’s next crop of creatives, while 100% Talent is specifically aimed at introducing works by local designers who are not yet household names but who are on the cusp of greatness in the world of design right now.
