Between now and 4 April 2014, you’ll be able to experience a gripping solo exhibition by visual activist and photographer Zanele Muholi.
Following her recent award of a prestigious Prince Claus accolade in Jozi, Stevenson Johannesburg is presenting Zanele’s Of Love and Loss – an exhibition which includes a series of autobiographical images and intimate portraits of her and her partner taken during their travels.
The exhibition will showcase weddings and funerals she’s been documenting in the black community since last year, which she describes as ‘joyful and painful events that often seem to go hand in hand’, as well as feature a tender counterpoint to the tension still generated in South Africa today by same-sex and interracial relationships.
Stevenson is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. Visit stevenson.info for more information.
