If you’ve ever wanted to own a Vivienne Westwood creation, you’ll be happy to know that you can now bring one into your home. The Rug Company has collaborated with the acclaimed British fashion designer to create a collection of rugs that capture her style and personality.
Mixing bold motifs with a sense of heritage, Vivienne’s designs manage to take traditional references and turn them into contemporary patterns that make for statement pieces.
Take her Thistle rug, for example. It turns an allusion to Scotland’s national emblem, the prickly-leaved milk thistle, into a graphic symbol, referencing her love for the country while also being decidedly modern and intriguing. Made from hand-knotted Tibetan wool and fine silk, this carpet is available in both dusty rose with gold and dove grey with gunmetal.
The Moiré rug captures the fluid water-like pattern created by the moiré fabric technique that Vivienne has used in the past on silk taffeta ball gowns and other garments. The effect is rendered in soft black and natural white and results in a design that’s truly eye-catching.
Another addition to the collection is the Rose rug, which pays homage to the romance of a traditional English rose garden with oversized blooms. Washed in a dreamy watercolour-like palette, the piece is ideal for anyone with a penchant for botanical illustrations and a desire to bring the outside in. To complement the rug, Vivienne also used the design on hand-woven cushions in two colourways: dust and pink.
These beautiful products are available exclusively from The Rug Company showrooms.
