this week's top find: skinny laminx pops the pincushion
Posted: 09 July 2018
In a print fondly named Large Pincushion and sporting an almost-blue grey hue, this delightful new piece from Skinny laMinx has piqued our interest. In tune with designer Heather Moore's overall well-loved style, the new Skinny laMinx addition – a super-stylish ready-made tablecloth in a fresh take on the brand's beloved Pincushion print — reflects the sincere thinking as well as all the sketching and paper-cut making that goes into each new development. If you’ve met Moore (even on social media) you’ll know why her ranges come across as genuine and playful. This tablecloth mirrors my general feeling about the Skinny laMinx brand. It's perfect for a simple, light-filled home with loads of laughter and happiness, morning coffees, newspapers and croissants. However, if your house isn't swimming in natural light, you don’t lead a 'slow life' and you prefer reading the news on your iPad, you’re not excluded from having a pretty Skinny la Minx-covered chair or scatter either. Moore's ranges are accessible, and the various prints and colours available work well together – when a new design or colour launches, it works perfectly next to even her very first designs, allowing you to build up a collection of her pieces. This gives design a strong South African and Western Cape flavour, which appeals to locals as well as visitors to the city. The Large Pincushion tablecloth is screen-printed onto 100% cotton hopsack fabric using water-based inks. Large Pincushion is available as a tablecloth from a 4–16 seater table, and the original Pincushion print is also available to purchase by the metre of fabric for R695/m (this yardage is 138cm wide). This fabric can be used for curtains, tablecloths, napkins, scatter cushions and more. Tablecloth sizes and prices: 4 seater – R755 6 seater – R865 8 seater – R1095 10 seater – R1305 12 seater – R1505 14 seater – R1715 In some extra special news for creative types, Moore is offering hands-on workshops in Skinny laMinx's Bree Street studio to groups no larger than eight people every Monday evening. The July series of workshops on HOW PATTERN WORKS started on Monday 9 July, with (hopefully) a new series starting in August. Keep an eye out on their website as this should be a fun and informative experience. To sign up, visit skinnylaminx.com.
