Point Of View Exhibition

This Barnard Gallery exhibition focuses on the metaphorical, the ideological and the conceptual. With a strong focus on the reasons how and why a particular image was shot in a particular way, it deals with the deeper meaning behind a collection of poignant photographs from both upcoming as well as established South African photographers. Curator Alastair Whitton has made a concerted effort to move away from the traditional and has selected photographs that will make the viewer think and question the meaning behind a photograph and its subjects. The ‘Point of View: Contemporary South African Photography’ exhibition features work by Lien Botha, Stephen Inggs, David Southwood, Graeme Williams, Gary Van Wyk, Svea Josephy, Lindeka Qampi, Damon Hyland, Carla Erasmus, Vanessa Cowling, Sean Wilson, Alastair Whitton, Ashley Walters, Mia Couvaras, Leigh Bassingthwaighte, Marc Shoul and Dillon Marsh. The exhibition runs from 25 July 2013 until 29 August 2013 at the Barnard Gallery on 55 Main Street, Newlands, Cape Town. The gallery is open from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday.
