After decades of coveting linear sofas with slender legs, we’re suddenly into chunkier shapes. The iconic Togo couch – designed in 1973 by Michel Ducaroy for French furniture company Ligne Roset – caught our eye in the beautiful Joburg house that once belonged to sculptor Edoardo Villa (featured in our December 2017 issue). And now we’re spotting variations on it everywhere from Coricraft and Weylandts (where the style is toned down and modular) to Roche Bobois (check out their gloriously colourful Mah Jong seating). Here, we discover five of our favourite couches for the new year. Discover what else is going to be big in 2018 in our #HLTrendsIssue – on shelves now!
