Autumn has begun to descend on South Africa with its rich, earthy colour palette and crisp coolness. So with this in mind, we thought we’d offer up some inspiration for autumnal entertaining.
There’s just something about the look and texture of pure linen that adds warmth and character to a space and sets the mood for the change of season. The table runners draped over the distressed elm trestle table in the image above are made from 100% linen and are dip-dyed for a splash of colour. Designed by Isobel Sippel, they feature a light, unrefined aesthetic that will no doubt bring a natural, earthy feel to your home space.
The runners retail for R900 (260cm x 60cm) and are available from The Trading Company at the Spice Route in Paarl, which we think is a fabulous excuse to enjoy a day trip out to wine country. As for the country farmhouse table itself, it’s available from Trade Secret and goes for at R10 995 (220cm long, 100cm wide and 78cm high).
Otherwise, if it’s a larger tablecloth you’re after, the 100% linen cloths from Lala Linen above will achieve a similarly autumnal effect. These beauties are available in a variety of colours and patterns and each work of textile art retails at R2 550 (145cm x 250cm). Pop into the Lala Linen showroom on Cape Town’s Kloof Street or visit the online shop. The bamboo ladder featured in the image is available from Lim at R1 750.
