Ceramic Bird Lamps
Posted: 09 July 2013
Made from translucent porcelain clay, these beautiful ceramic lamps are the result of a detailed and industrious process by ceramicist, Eunice Botes, who combines her passions of form and drawing to illustrate her delicate creations. 'We have a game farm 90kms outside Brits - and all of my inspiration comes from those surroundings,' says Eunice. There are a vast number of birds that capture my attention for hours, she adds. After an initial firing process in the kiln, Eunice applies each of her bird sprig designs by hand while the clay is still wet, before sanding, glazing and painting the lamps - and firing it a second time. The lamps are 24cm x 6cm, but sizes can differ according to your needs. Eunice's ceramic bird lamps retail for R1 300. For more information and to view the full range, visit eunicebotes.co.za.
