Bold Indigi Standing Lamp

The Indigi standing lamp is the perfect contemporary, eclectic piece to add to your home. In a choice of different colour combinations and textures it makes for a bold, funky statement lamp.

Natalie du Toit, founder of Indigi Designs in Cape Town, designed the lamp. Keen to find out more about this interesting piece, HL chatted to Natalie about her product. ‘The lamp represents a synergy between contemporary design and local craft. It’s really adaptable – you can have a black or metallic base with a satin pleated shade for a sexy look, a white base with a natural linen shade for a laid back look, or a brightly coloured base combined with our Indigi range of fabrics for a bold and exciting look,’ she says.

A variety of coloured wiring is also available and the base comes in a pendant option as well. With so many options you’re bound to find something to suit your home’s décor scheme.

Natalie founded Indigi Designs in Cape Town in 2011 and her products are available around the world. ‘I am inspired by so many things – it can be an element in nature or something lying on the floor in the factory – I try to see the opportunity in everything,’ says Natalie when we asked what influences her unique designs. ‘I am drawn to geometric shapes and bold patterns. There tends to be a certain ethnicity in my work because I am drawn to indigenous cultures (having grown up in both South Africa and Australia).’

‘Being in the factory is incredibly stimulating and fundamental in my design development, as concepts tend to evolve during a process of investigation and experimentation rather than a pre-conceived idea ready for manufacture.’

The lamp can be found at The Woodstock Foundry in Cape Town, ordered online or found at their two stockists: Quirky Me at the Biscuit Mill and Fab Things in Newlands & Harfield Village in Cape Town.
