‘Almost Everyone’ Exhibition

Inspired by both street art and the pop art movement of the 1950s, Alex Hamilton has been creating hand-cut stencil portraits for four years, featuring iconic stars and renowned personalities, from ancient philosophers and actresses to musicians and political leaders. Each piece is spray-painted onto a painted wooden block that measures 7.5cm x 11cm. His latest exhibition is focused on South African history and culture. Expect to see a range of local faces, from the Sophiatown singers and freedom fighters to Yolandi Visser and Riaan Cruywagen. Visit Alex Hamilton’s ‘Almost Everyone’ exhibition from 17 August until 14 September 2013 at the Fried Contemporary Art Gallery in Pretoria. The gallery is located on 1146 Justice Mahomed Street (formerly 430 Charles Street) in Brooklyn. For more information, contact Alex on 021-447-2396 or via Text Lindi Brownell Meiring
