pattern playCement tiles are massively on trend at the moment. Versatile, stylish and practical, they make a brilliant point of focus and add depth to an interior. If a timeless look is what you're after, keep it simple, or go all-out eccentric by pairing graphic tiles with antique furniture.
make a statementIn the spiral-shaped home that famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed for his son and daughter-in-law David and Gladys Wright in 1950, a woven rug by Stanislav V'Soske appeared in the living and dining rooms. While the original March Balloons rug has since been auctioned off, it serves as ample inspiration for adding the wow factor to an open setting with bold, bright geometrics.
cottage industryIn her home in Seapoint, Sarah Scott's characterful style reigns supreme. While the courtyard was last on her list while she was renovating, she's turned it into a quaint, modern space with tiles that steal the show. all that glittersThe soft pink that has taken over The Gallery at Sketch, a London restaurant-cum-art gallery, is juxtaposed against luxurious gold and black tiling. let it flowUp the style ante on natural wooden floors with this subtle yet eye-catching approach to herringbone. Paint individual slabs with the colours reflected around them to creating an interesting look that isn't overpowering. It's also a great way to create a natural flow from room to room.
