10 Astonishing Pint-Sized Paintings

Brooke Rothshank

In a world where most are convinced that bigger is better, Indiana-based artist Brooke Rothshank is proving that there's much appeal to tiny too. The gifted painter and illustrator is a miniaturist – yes, that's a thing – and spends much of her time crafting itsy-bisty artworks in watercolour, oil, acrylic and egg tempera paint.

Throughout most of 2015, Brooke posted a mini sketch to her Instagram account every single day, and if you follow her there you’ll no doubt catch many more of her charming works in future. She’s painted everything from a petite croissant and minute shovel to a teeny violin and microscopic elephant, but it’s the detail in her paintings of significant people that really grabbed us. So, without further ado, here are some of our favourite Brooke Rothshank mini portaits.
