Three New Gins For Summer:
1. Prohibition Blue Gin
Silver Creek Craft Distillery has released their latest innovation, Prohibition Blue Gin, which is made in small batches and infused with juniper, coriander, lemon, angelica, cinnamon and a dash of rose water.
The most noticable trait of this gin is the striking blue colour, which is sourced from the flower of the blue pea – meaning that the colour is 100% naturally derived. What's more, it turns a playful pink when mixed with lemon or tonic water.
The premium quality of the handmade Prohibition Blue Gin is already making headlines: it won a Gold Award at the SA Women's Wine & Spirit Awards.
Note that because the blue colouring of the gin is 100% natural, it will fade over time, and it is advisable to ensure the bottle is stored out of direct sunlight.
Prohibition Blue Gin is available from Takealot and retails at R359 per bottle.
2. OPIHR Oriental Spiced Gin
The newly launched OPIHR Oriental Spiced Gin has been crafted with a selection of handpicked botanicals that include spicy cubeb berries all the way from Malaysia, cardamon from India and coriander sourced from Morocco.
The gin is able to take you on a virtual journey via its aromatic and fragrant spices, and is inspired by the travelling merchants who explored the spice routes of yesteryear.
This flavourful gin is available at selected stores across the country and retails for R400 per bottle.
3. Hendrick's Gin Midsummer Solstice
Hendrick's has released a new gin just in time for the summer season – and it's very aptly named Midsummer Solstice. The gin is botantical blend inspired by the nature's floral scents and is a refreshing gin ideal for hot days.
Midsummer Solstice is the first release from master distiller Lesley Gracie's Cabinet of Curiosities at the new Hendrick's Gin Palace. Its floral flavours mean that this gin is ideal for use in a wide variety of mixed drinks and cocktails.
As a limited edition, the Midsummer Solstice is available for R479 per bottle at Makro as well as at other leading liquor outlets countrywide.
