Recipe: Bourbon Hot Toddy

Ward off the winter chill – and any flu symptoms for that matter – with a zesty hot toddy that has just the right amount of kick.

If the onset of cold winter weather is getting you down, lift your spirits with a warming hot toddy infused with citrus and cinnamon.

Bourbon Hot Toddy

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 3 cinnamon sticks (1 for garnish)
  • 1 cup good-quality bourbon
  • 4 orange slices or wedges


Preheat 4 glasses by filling with hot water. Bring the citrus juice, water, maple syrup and cinnamon sticks to the boil. Leave to infuse and cool slightly. Pour the hot water out of the glasses and add the bourbon and orange slices or wedges. Pour in the hot citrus mixture and garnish each hot toddy with a cinnamon stick.
