Our Favourite Pink Places in SA
For February, the month of love, we round up our pick of our favourite millennial pink spots in SA for some seriously Instagrammable inspiration.
With February, the month of love, conjuring up images of everything pink, we have decided to list a number of places in South Africa that are an ideal spot to celebrate the day of romance and love.
There is no denying that there is something aesthetically pleasing about the millenial pink trend that has taken the world by storm.
Evoking a mood of sunset hues and a calming yet comforting colour, millennial pink has been spotted in restaurants around South Africa.
One can argue that the trend of millennial pink began with Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2016 - Rose Quartz which may have paved the way for this now on-trend tone. Whether it is millennial pink or just plain old pink, the colour has established itself as a vibrant and upbeat tone that evokes a sense of happiness.
Instagram has proven that this colour is more than just a fad and that it is here to stay.
Five pink spots we love in South Africa
The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town
Renowned as Cape Town's beloved old dame and often reffered to as the 'Pink Lady', The Belmond Mount Nelson is the epitome of a pink haven.
Standing tall in the epicentre of Cape Town, it is one of the city's oldest hotels famous for its pink exterior. The star-studded history that fills the hallways and rooms at the Mount Nelson Hotel are a must-visit.
Spend the afternoon in the elegantly designed and decorated high tea room as you overlook the lush greenery of the Pink Lady.
The Whippet Coffee Shop, Johannesburg
Housed in an old art Deco Hotel, the Whippet in Mellville celeberates the suburb's historical architecture with more than just a touch of pink. The interior design and modern accents are what we love most about this quaint and cool spot in Joburg.
Aside from providing the perfect Instagram aesthetic, the Whippet is Joburg's first farm-to-table restaurant, offering a range of delicous bites from Nutella chocolate flajacks to designer hot chocolate options, with some interesting varieties to choose from, including popcorn.
Poké Co, Cape Town
Opening their second branch in Cape Town, Poké Co has taken residence in the bustling and popular Kloof Street. With interiors designed by Jenine Bruce from Lacuna, the new space was created to reflect a no frills pretty in pink interior featuring soft curves and a bold pink terrazzo.
Poké Co offers fresh, healthy and reasonably-priced meals. Patrons are able to build their own bowls from fresh ingredients including tuna, edamene beans, cucumber and more.
Tashas, The Flamingo Room, Johannesburg
The Tasha's Flamingo Room located in the Nelson Mandela Square is a romantic interplay between mondernist design and hues of pink.
Taking its cue from African glamour, the restaurant is dappled with marble, and has taken inspiration for its colour palette from the colours of the African flamingo and features green, variations of pink and gold.
The menu has been aptly themed to suit the African glamour theme as it includes a variation of rich options from ostritch fillet to a creamy truffle pasta.
I Love The Dough, Cape Town
As the new pink-themed kid on the block, I Love The Dough is the vibey pizza place we have all been waiting for as it transforms into a bustling bar at night.
It would be a simple understatement to say that everything in I Love The Dough is covered in pink, from the chairs to the ceiling. Along with being home to a number of scrumptious pizza options, the new spot is filled with sass, clearly evident in the descriptions written on the walls such as ' F*#k Who Doesn't Like This Place'.
It is a pastel haven of pink, blues and yes even more pink that we are currently obsessed with.
