Taking its cue from its ever-changing garden, Babylonstoren in Simondium has recently expanded its much-loved scent room, amplifying its product offering by moving into a much larger factory-like space.

Now situated across the pathway from the wine cellar, the scent room features a slab of glass stretching the width of the barn-style factory, which is open seven days a week and provides visitors with a chance to observe the industrial process for themselves.

It is in this chic laboratory-esque space that Babylonstoren's product offerings are made: it's where they make and bottle their freshly squeezed juices and award-wnining wines, where they press their homegrown olives for their magnificent olive oils, and where they create their essential oils with botanicals grown on the farm.

Babylonstoren is renowned for its fragrant bath salts,  essential oils, soaps and candles, but now the farm has taken this a step further and is giving visitors the opportunity to make their own beauty products instead of just buying them.

Large marble tables acts as experimental stations where farm goers can concoct their own potions and scrubs – there's oversized lab-style glassware housing different types of rose petals that you get to mix with coarse salt and other ingredients to make a scented bath soak (R110), face mask (R75) or hand and foot scrub (R95).

Biodegradeable pots are available and should you come back to refill your products, you get 10% discount if you use the same pot.
