You may know Lezanne Viviers from her years spent working with fashion powerhouse Marianne Fassler, but now the former creative director has started her own venture in the form of an eponymous clothing line.

The newly launched VIVIERS collection boasts an array of limited-edition 'imperfect garments cut to perfection' from unusual textiles, many of which have been sourced abroad. Juxtaposition is an apparent theme that runs throughout the range, which has been described as simultaneously masculine and feminine, sophisticated and rebellious, luxurious and comfortable, collectable and wearable.

Drawing on her extensive experience in the fashion world, as well as her love of the arts, Viviers has created a unique collection of impeccably crafted pieces that reflect the basic principles of art and design.

Her eye for balance and proportion can be seen in the often-oversized silhouettes of each garment which, instead of being grounded by a neutral colour palette, is celebrated with the inclusion of bold hues, attention-grabbing patterns, daring styling and touch-me-now textures.

Each item has been carefully conceptualised and impeccably crafted by hand in the Johannesburg-based VIVIERS studio, which forms part of Viviers' flagship concept space, Lotus House. Housed in a Mid-Century Modern building designed by German architectural firm Osmond and De Kock in 1960, Lotus House includes a collaborative working studio space, a concept store offering a selection of rare finds, a gallery of contemporary South African art, a garden for Japanese tea ceremonies and an atelier for bespoke fittings.

Among the brands VIVIERS is collaborating with is Studio Lennie by German-born milliner Lena Heinrich, who worked with Viviers on the hats seen in this collection.
