#HLDiscovery: What to do for Valentine's Day

In honour of upcoming Valentine's Day, this week's #HLDiscovery list is all about how you can celebrate with your loved ones - both on Thursday and throughout the month of love. From picnic concerts and drive ins to special events hosted at some of the most beautiful locations in the country, you'll be inspired to spread the love all year round.
1. Backsberg’s 2019 Summer Picnic Concerts
Backsberg is launching its annual picnic concerts presented by Cape Talk on 9 February. The concerts are happening every Sunday at the Backsberg estate in Paarl until 10 March 2019. You can enjoy a day out in the beautiful winelands, sitting on the lawn and snacking from your picnic basket while you are serenaded by some of SA's best musicians. These include Shortstraw, Zolani Mahola of Freshlyground and Beatenberg. Pre-order a picnic basket or sample the numerous food offerings available on the day.

2. Celebration Food by Pesto Princess
If a picnic sounds good to you and you want to make up your own basket, Pesto Princess has launched a new recipe e-book called Celebration Food - and it's free. The book has been released to celebrate the brand's 20th birthday and is filled with delicious snacks ideal for an ultimate Valentine's Day sharing platter. 3. Romantic Getaway at The Cellars-Hohenort
For the whole month of February, The Cellars-Hohenort has a romantic package called 'Just the Two of Us' that includes everything you need for a romantic retreat. Expect treats like fresh fruit and a bottle of Pink Cap Classique sparkling wine in your room upon arrival, a couple’s signature massage and a romantic turn-down service. 4. Valentine's Day Drive In
Kick it old school with a Valentine's Day drive in at the Queensburgh Rugby Club in Durban. Since Valentine's Day falls on a Thursday, the event will take place on Friday the 15th. There are two screenings on the night, so you can choose which movie you want to see, or enjoy the double feature. First up, one of the most romantic movies of the century, The Notebook will be screened at 7:10 pm followed by The Vow at 9:25 pm. Tickets are available at the gate, which opens from 6pm.
5. Valentine’s Day At 15 On Orange
If you find yourself in the Mother City on Valentine's Day, you may want to spend the evening with a romantic dinner at the newly refurbished 15 On Orange. Its restaurant Savour is serving up a delectable five-course menu that is perfectly paired with Ayama Wines. Dishes to look forward to include grilled crispy skin seabass with chorizo cassoulet, roast Chalmar beef fillet served with smoked bone marrow jus, and bitter chocolate semifreddo with meringue. You will also receive a complimentary welcome drink and a gift, plus you could win win a stay-for-two courtesy of Marriott. The evening will be elevated with live music by Francesca Biancoli.
6. Jozi Fling Valentine's Day Dinner
For those looking for a great dinner in Joburg, Turbine Hall in Newtown is hosting an exclusive event called Jozi Fling Valentine’s Dinner. Go as a couple or as a group and enjoy an exquisite four-course meal accompanied by a selection of signature wines from its Platinum Wine List. You can book a table for four, six, eight or 10 people - tables for two are available, but limited. The event is cashless, so make sure you have your card. Pre-booking is essential.
