The HL Night Market
Posted: 17 May 2013
On 16 May 2013, House and Leisure brought you our very first night market.Held at the fabulous Katy's Palace Bar in Kramerville, the event was clearly at the top of every Joburger's list with a solid stream of visitors in and out of the doors all night. The venue combines a rare view of the Sandton CBD skyline with an eclectic Indian palace inspired interior. Bringing all our fans together under one roof with market stalls full of gorgeous goodies, food, drinks and live music turned out to be a recipe for success and one that is eagerly anticipated to return. Stalls offered guests everything from textiles and handcrafts to jewellery and clothes from some of the city's hottest retailers, while our photo booth kept the camera confident busy for hours. Thanks go to Viva Vodka, who met guests at the door with a complimentary drink and also provided us with a lavish VIP section for the night. Let's not forget Glen Carlou who provided world-class wines and Mezepoli who filled tummies with their delicious Greek treats. With Cape Town and Durban now in the pipeline, you'd better stay tuned in. See below for information about the vendors from our first-ever night market. About: HL’s very first night market will be enhanced by the presence of SA’s first super-premium vodka, Viva Vodka. Guests will be able to mix and mingle while sipping on delicious house cocktails from this exclusive vodka brand. Recently launched, Viva Vodka invites consumers to 'Live the Moment!' and enjoyed it chilled, over ice, or as the base of one of your favourite drinks or cocktails. Viva offers all the taste and experience that every night out, night in or night on the town needs. Manufactured during a carbon-filtered process and distilled five times over a base of cane, Viva symbolises the embodiment of promise and proud achievement. Thus, at the forefront of the brand’s marketing strategy is a commitment to supporting local art and creative expression in SA. Reflecting the challenging, confident nature of the product, the Viva bottle’s striking red silhouette (with the icon of Africa placed front and centre) packs a visual punch as powerful as the luxuriously smooth spirit within it. Under the ownership and management of the world-renowned Hess Family, we continue to produce wines of exceptional quality and consistency, growing from strength to strength. Since 1985, we have only had three winemakers – whose collective passion has ensured that Glen Carlou has produced consistently exceptional wines for almost three decades. For us, creating classic, award-winning wines is a wonderful and gratifying journey, but it is not the destination. Consistency, expertise and a commitment to always deliver beyond expectation is what we strive for with every bottle of Glen Carlou wine. This is why we are known as the ‘Curators of Classic Wines’. It’s about food of the moment, enjoyed in the moment. Our menu is predominantly Greek, with Meze being our signature style of dining – simple, fresh and flavourful, contemporary food that makes for the ultimate social experience. The plumpest of olives, delectable cheeses, the most flavourful stuffed vine leaves and sausages are just some of our defining delicacies. Added to this is a choice of other uncomplicated, world ‘snack’ foods that echo our character of ‘here and now’ – from the exciting flavours and colours of Spanish tapas to the freshest sushi of the East. Drawn from the passionate cultures of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, Mezepoli dining is about simply loving the moment and taking time out to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with meze. We invite you to kick back and linger a while, while you experience and explore new tastes.
