HL’s RenoInnovation Winner Is...

We’re pleased to announce the HL Before & After RenoInnovation award-winning home: a light and airy compact Parkhurst abode that maximises its limited space. Just under a year ago we called on the readers to invite us in, and show us their home renovations for a chance to win House and Leisure’s RenoInnovation award and a R30 000 cash prize. The response was overwhelming: from major overhauls where homeowners lived among dust and rubble to DIY makeovers and design reduxes, we saw it all. A shortlist of six renos made up the Homes section in our first ever HL Before & After collector’s issue, and we again called on the readers, this time to vote for their favourite of the featured house transformations.

While each space offered plenty of inspiration and practical advice it was a sunny spot in Parkhurst that garnered the most votes. Congratulations to homeowners Paul and Roberta Thatcher of Renovation #3. The young couple, looking to refurbish a property that had been in the family for three generations consulted with Joburg-based architect Georg van Gass to bring the ‘typical 1950s facebrick box’ right up to date. ‘I’m obsessed with aesthetics,’ comments Roberta, and in her winning home, it shows.
