Fresh Design: Sevruga Unveils its New Look

Sevruga restaurant has refreshed its look and menu.



For Capetonians, one of the most popular spots to get their sushi fix is at Sevruga in the V&A Waterfront. Sushi lovers can look forward to marvellous dining experience with premium food offerings in a sophisticated atmosphere, and in a location near the water. After changing hands recently, the eatery has taken on a fresh new look and menu, while still embracing all the elements that make it a favourite on the culinary scene. 

New owner Mike Townsend founded Harbour House Group and spent two decades building it up before leaving in early 2018. Now, with Sevruga as a new project, Townsend has elevated the dining experience.

The Food 

Fans of Sevruga's sushi will be delighted to know that it's still on the menu, but there are also plenty of new dishes to get excited about. For starters, you could try the seared scallops served with cauliflower puree, crème fraiche, anchovy, caper berries and salmon roe. On the mains menu, among other delectable offerings, there are pan-fried prawns with garlic, chilli, lemon, parsley and smoked paprika aioli. Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to a classic crème brûleè served with boudoir biscuit and fresh berries. All meals are made with the freshest ingredients to ensure the best flavour. 

The Look 

A lighter, softer aesthetic and feel has replaced the space's previously dark interiors. Inside, breezy tropical prints on the dining chairs pop against a neutral, natural palette, and the botanical theme continues in an ivy-covered canopy. As always, the open dining area overlooks the quay, but there is a brand-new bar area, as well as a collection of wine fridges (stocked with top-notch South African wines) that are beautifully framed by arches.
