Faith47 bites the Big Apple
Posted: 16 November 2015
South African street artist Faith47 will hold her first New York City solo show from 19 November. Dubbed Aqua Regalia Chapter Two, the exhibition looks at the conflicts and power play between the sacred and mundane, a continuation of the 2014 show she ran in London.
Aqua regalia or ‘royal water’ is the alchemical name for a highly corrosive mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acid that has the ability to dissolve one of the most enshrined substances gold. The transformative nature of this chemistry is what Faith47 sets out to explore. The exhibition will be held at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York City, a space known for its support of underground art, from 19 November to 19 December 2015.
