Embracing the Dark Side
Global retail is increasingly offering engaging and experiential spaces and product ranges. In line with its cutting edge and personal approach to lighting, Streamlight has expanded its reach further into lifestyle. As designers as well as distributors of some of the most sought-after brands in the industry, its expertise and platform was the perfect launch pad for a new space created to engage with design.
A convergence of design, lifestyle and fashion brands, DARK offers discerning design lovers a selection of product designed and sourced with an appreciation of an edgier urban aesthetic. The brainchild of Streamlight’s directors, the store inside the lighting showroom’s premises in Kramerville brings together a variety of brands in one space. Inspired by the idea of being able to go into a store and being presented with a varied product range, the concept aims to offer a fresh take on design and fashion.
By channeling an in-depth knowledge of international trends, the team has created, and curated, a product selection that speaks to a contemporary and fashion-forward customer. Along with a cutting-edge lighting range, informed by global insight and design directions, the space will house fashion and homeware from around the world. Brands like LEFF from Amsterdam, whose offering will include watches, clocks and speakers, will sit alongside local favourite Simon and Mary’s beloved millinery range, and Colony Cycles single speed, Dutch style cycles.
‘The aim is to bring different people together to experience something new, edgy and sexy,’ says Brad Kalish of Streamlight. DARK will be partnering up with fashion designers, artists and an eyewear range to bring you one-of-a-kind pieces that will last a lifetime.
Next up? The team is planning a bar/coffee shop space where its community of creative and customers can gather.
