Again & Again - Reimagining Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi’s Walk of Numbers
Sanlam Private Wealth collaborate with artists in campaign called Again and Again – Inspiration and Excellence in Perpetuity’.
The worlds of art and wealth management have one very important aim in common – to craft something meaningful and of real value that lasts for generations to come. The same spirit that inspires artists to create cultural wealth is what drives wealth managers to grow and preserve clients’ wealth.
Traits and characteristics typically associated with artists, such as inspiration, innovation, hard-learned skills, experience, practice, care and patience – even the need to take calculated risks at times – ring true for both trades.
With this in mind, a unique collaboration was born. Sanlam Private Wealth has partnered with a new generation of creators, taking select pieces from the vast Sanlam art collection on a journey into the future by reinterpreting them in new, unique ways. They’ve called this journey ‘Again and Again – Excellence and Inspiration in Perpetuity’.
Cape Town-based fashion designer Lukhanyo Mdingi is one of the first young artists to join the collaboration. Established in 2015, the Lukhanyo Mdingi label is known for creating pieces that are timeless and celebrate the essence of ease and storytelling. His creations are rich in cultural references, using fashion to create contemporary narratives.
Lukhanyo’s reimagining of Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi’s Walk of Numbers – the first piece selected to be reinterpreted – depicts a series of modern patterns inspired by the movement, rotation and human figures in the original painting.
