WHEN Thursday 2 February 2017 WHERE Cape Town and Joburg WHAT TO EXPECT On the first Thursday of every month, take to the streets of your respective city for a night of after-hours shopping, gallery browsing, live music and great food. Head to Red Bull Studios for a glimpse of Cape Town through the lens of photographer Elsa Bleda at her Night-caps exhibition, or if you’re in Joburg’s Maboneng Precinct, book yourself in for a taste of Argentinian food at the industrial-chic Che Argentine Grill.

WHEN Thursday 2 February 2017 WHERE Stevenson Gallery, Joburg WHAT TO EXPECT For his debut exhibition, Simunye Summit 2010, Bogosi Sekhukhuni explores a parallel futuristic past known as 'Kwaal World'. Decades ahead of our present reality, this is a world where the 'Apartheid Matrix' only ended in the year 2000 and was replaced by 'Rainbowcore' – a system of government that uses everything from audiovisual propaganda to chemically manipulated weather systems to keep its majority oppressed. Also on at Cape Town's Stevenson Gallery is Robin Rhode’s Paths and Fields, which will run until 4 March 2017.

WHEN Tuesday 14 February 2017 WHERE Good Hope Gardens Nursery, Cape Point, Cape Town WHAT TO EXPECT Hosted by Veld and Sea events and held on Valentine's Day, this once-off intimate dinner for 12 is a celebration of sustainability – from plant to plate. By using herbs and vegetables harvested directly from the Good Hope Gardens, quality over quantity is the underlying theme. Cape Town Art Fair

WHEN Friday 17 February-Sunday 19 February 2017 WHERE Cape Town International Convention Centre, 1 Lower Long Street, Cape Town WHAT TO EXPECT Lauded as Africa’s premier art fair, this annual event showcases works from artists exhibited in principal galleries from South Africa, Africa and abroad, with emphasis placed on the celebration of emerging trends in African art. Curated by Tumelo Mosaka, a noteworthy addition to this year’s fair is the 'Unframed' section, which will showcase a selection of large-scale sculptures and media installations. WHEN Thursday 23 February 2017 WHERE Museum of African Design, Joburg WHAT TO EXPECT Featured artists Naadira Patel, Kevin Krapf, Atang Tshikare and Tanya Gershon gather together to look at the ever-shifting landscape that makes up Joburg. From its roots as a transient mining town to the metropolis it is today, Unfinished City celebrates this constantly changing urban landscape. Admission is free.

WHEN Sunday 26 February 2017 WHERE The Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock, Cape Town WHAT TO EXPECT  Join gin aficionados and aspirants to celebrate the fastest growing spirit category in the world.
