With the chilly season comes the urge to stay under wraps and to curl up with your favourite winter woolies. Capetonian ‘mohair maven‘, Bridget Henderson of Cowgirlblues fame, is already well known for her snug clothing creations, like her gorgeous ponchos, mohair and silk wraps, shawls and scarves, and her feminine crocheted bowtie vests. Now you can also enjoy her textured range of decor products, perfect for warming up your home. It’s no wonder her latest items received so much attention at this year’s Decorex Cape Town show – she’s branched out into homeware with lovely creations including throws and other cosy accessories. We’ve currently got our eye on this Cowgirlblues Todd bench rug, which would blend into many versatile interiors effortlessly. It’s a hand-knitted mohair and wool rug that has been individually dyed to give it an individual look. Bridget adds that it feels a bit like a sheepskin and has a really thick knit – so it’s sure to spread the warmth wherever you decide to place it in your home. The essence of the brand is to re-energise the handmade, to endorse naturally crafted items and to make use of Southern African wool and mohair fibres in innovative ways. We think they’ve certainly achieved that with this luxe addition to the range. The Todd bench rug can be custom made to order, but works out at approximately R2 450 for 65cm x 65cm, weighing about 500g.
