We’re always excited to hear about new releases from local designer and illustrator Heather Moore, who owns decor label Skinny laMinx. Heather recently launched her Flower Dreams fabric collection at Space for Life, the trendy furniture gallery situated in Cape Town’s Foreshore. Because they share a passion for vintage Scandinavian design, it was the perfect location to unveil the newest additions to the already booming Skinny laMinx label. Unlike Heather’s previous collections, Flower Dreams demonstrates experimentation with multiple coloured prints. Staying true to its name, it’s inspired by all things floral and ethereal, and includes a feminine colour palette of pinks, plums, lemons and humbugs. There are three new designs to look forward to, while the popular Orla print is also being re-released. The first new fabric, Flower Fields – also the brand’s pioneering two-colour print – is available in Rosy, Penny Black and Goldenrod, and was born from a paper cut-out design of a flower with a distinct ’60s pop feel. The second new addition, Wild Flowers, available in cheery Strawberry Plum, Lemon Plum, Strawberry Humbug and Lemon Humbug, is a playful design made with hand-cut sticky vinyl. Thirdly, Pincushion is a sweet print based on Heather’s paper cut-out of a Pincushion protea, and comes in Humbug and Wedgewood. All the fabrics are screen-printed in Heather’s trademark style on a durable multi-use cotton/linen blend basecloth, woven in South Africa. They retail at R425/metre (including VAT). We can’t wait to get our hands on all of them! Skinny laMinx shop & studio, 201 Bree Street, Cape Town. For more information visit skinnylaminx.com or call 021-424-6290.
