You may remember the collection of sweet button badges from Bow Peep that we featured last year? Since then we’ve been following the progress of Leila Badsha and her quirky designs closely, which always exude a sense of fun and demonstrate brilliant design. Her latest project is no different – she’s teamed up with three local graphic designers to produce an authentic range of practical tote bags. Michelle Baron designed the mustache bag, which was such a huge hit at the Toffie Pop Festival market that Leila decided to approach more designers to come on board and submit their designs for the bags. Subsequently, the little sailing boat bag was designed by Shayne Heathfield, and the owl and geometric bags were the handiwork of Colleen Invernizzi. Describing the collaboration, Leila says, ‘It’s a way of getting different designers to have their work showcased on the bags – each bag comes with a swing tag with the designer’s name and website on it. Every few months I hope to bring out a new bag by a different designer’. The Cape Town-based project offers design lovers so many wonderful designs to choose from, and at just R150 each, you won’t have to pick only one! We don’t know about you, but we’re itching to get our hands on at least one of these totes. They’re available from the Bow Peep online store, at Cloak & Dagger in Claremont and at Babette Clothing, just off Long Street in the Mother City.
