A surprisingly large percentage of South Africans believe that working from home would improve their productivity, showing that the comforts of home are increasingly valued over social interaction. This desire follows an emerging Western trend of embracing your home as the perfect working environment. Comfort aside, working from home is an excellent way to cut costs – meaning that employees no longer have to spend money on their daily commutes or office-appropriate attire.
In a survey conducted by leading paint brand Dulux, a few more interesting findings emerged. More than half (56%) of those in South Africa cited their bathroom as the place in which they have their greatest ideas, and 50% produce their most impressive written work from their at-home study, further highlighting the benefits of adopting a ‘work from home’ lifestyle. The same is true when it comes to communicating effectively, with 24% citing their dining-room table as the best location for these elements of their work.
