On arriving at our annual sales training we, the House and Leisure sales team, were told that we were in for a ‘small surprise’ – but little did we expect the adventures that were in store for us! Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Spier, the ‘small surprise’ did not involve complicated sales proposals but rather an exciting day on the Spier estate. The day started off with us exploring the beautiful wine farm on off-road Segways – motorised self-balancing devices – followed by lunch at Eight, the acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant which uses natural and organic ingredients from the farm. After a delicious meal (and a glass of Chardonnay or two!) we were shown around the hotel and allowed to explore its facilities. This was followed by an action-packed outing to the Eagle Encounters centre where we watched a flying display and got to hold some of the tame birds – as well as fall hopelessly in love with the wood owl aptly named Woody. Lastly we were shuttled over to the Cheetah Outreach facility where we were treated to an encounter with one of the hand-raised cheetahs, after which we promptly fell into the car, exhausted… It was a busy, fun and exciting day, one that the team will remember for a long time to come.
