Cavendish Square’s first pop-up store is due to be launched this festive season in collaboration with AIDS charity, Wola Nani. First established in 1994, this non-profit organisation was birthed to help, educate and counsel women and children infected with HIV/AIDS, by providing them with a sustainable income, family and community support, and a trade platform. Their wares which are distinctively South African in trait, clothed in a variety of local prints and packaging, range from intricately interlaced paper jewellery and bead work, to resourceful home decor and light bulbs. We love these colourful paper maché bowls which have admittedly been pageantry in the marketplace for quite some time, but which nonetheless never seem to date. Playful, vibrant and exquisitely finished, they make for the perfect quirky gift or a scrumptious self indulgence, and with their cause in mind, it’s like eating chocolate without the sugar: guilt-free shopping! We’re sure to be first in line when doors open… The Wola Nani pop-up store opens on 25 November 2011 at Cavendish Square. Bowls are priced from R20 to R150 dependent on size.
