Capetonian jewellery designer Eon Hoon recently brought out his new and exciting range, and has yet again marvelled us with his originality and undeniable talent. The pieces take on the form of a wishbone and the range is simply dubbed ‘wish’. Following the cultural symbolism at mealtime of the bigger half of the wishbone alluding to having one’s wish granted, Eon certainly has a knack for broaching unconventional subject matter. Some may think that it carries inherent luck while others might just admire the jewellery for its aesthetic appeal. Either way, we think this young artist has a bright future ahead of him. The quirky new range was inspired when Eon was busy deboning a chicken; he found the shape of the bone unusual yet fascinating. The appeal spurred on an entire collection of wishbones, which come in several different mediums, including sterling silver and copper, which give off more reddish tones. With red being an interesting jewellery trend for the season, these little jewels are bound to get people talking. They are exclusively available from The Fringe on Kloof (99B Kloof Street, Cape Town) and retail from R250 to R540.
