Known as a jewellery brand that likes to take inspiration from Africa, it is hardly a surprise that Joya’s latest muse is crystallised rock. However, they’ve pulled it off swimmingly and with complete elegance. After molten rock was pushed up to the Earth’s surface many eons ago, cooling followed, bringing about crystallisation of solid rock. The result? The unique crystal called drusy, today finely crafted into beautiful gemstones with an incredible shine. London-based Joya designer Victoria Fenner created the pieces in reaction to the increasing demand for statement pieces, adding the rings to their Summer 2011/2012 Collection. Most notable is the organic shape of the brand and the very distinct design and texture of the crystals used. Available in a combination of pure agate drusy and agate drusy and amethyst, the rings are priced at R595 each. For further information please visit joya.co.za or phone 072-729-4055.
