Officially endorsed by Louis Vuitton, the owner of local luxury fashion label Kat van Duinen is certainly stepping up in the world. Now, as the logical next step in her exciting success story, she’s moved her flagship store into Cape Town’s new high-end Silo district, perfectly placed between Kirsten Goss’ futuristic showroom and the new GUILD space.
The store, designed by architect Ivan Peens, is minimal and luxurious, with only a playful splash of yellow needed to attract the attention of passersby. Inside, each of Van Duinen’s works evokes the creative spirit of Africa, with a sleek sophistication that’s perfectly suited to the discerning sartorialist. It’s really no wonder that celebrities such as Diane Keaton, Solange Knowles and Claire Danes have made Kat van Duinen originals their own.
At the opening of her new space, Van Duinen will release a new range – the Evening Capsule collection 2017/18. She granted us a sneak peek at the elegant eveningwear, which includes floor-length gowns, tiered maxi skirts and flirtatious ruffled shift dresses. The new garments, in tones of honey gold, ruby red, emerald green and deep, sapphire blue, are a beautiful reflection of Van Duinen’s flagship store, immersing us in a world of delicious opulence.
