Clearly, Joburg is the place to be right now. Only weeks ago it was announced that Jamie Oliver is set to open a restaurant in Jozi and now comes the news that premium Italian jewellery and watch brand Bulgari will be launching its first South African-based boutique in the area of Sandton too.
The maker of luxury goods has been around since 1884 so it’s significant that after more than 130 years, we’ll finally have a store dedicated to the brand’s elegant jewels and fashion accessories on home soil. It certainly says something about Joburg’s rising status as a luxury hub in the eyes of high-end international companies.
The design of the boutique will take its cue from the flagship Bulgari shop at Via dei Condotti 10 in Rome, which first opened back in 1905 and was recently renovated by world-renowned architect Peter Marino. Future visitors can expect bronze, marble and wood flourishes and a high level of general magnificence that befits the collection of classic pendants, rings, timepieces, bags, fragrances and more on offer.
