We kick back at the House and Leisure/ Veuve Clicquot Dine Around…

EDITOR’S LETTER

They say, ‘You’re only as good as the company you keep,’ so if this year’s House and Leisure/Veuve Clicquot Dine Around was anything to go by, then we’re summum bonum. The intimate dinners, hosted in homes around Cape Town as part of Design Indaba, aim to give conference guest speakers and international media an opportunity to rub shoulders with locals.

House and Leisure partnered with top French champagne house Veuve Clicquot for the event at the home of acclaimed artist Conrad Botes and his wife, Jeanne (HL’s decor editor). Internationals included innovative Dutch furniture designer Piet Hein Eek, global trend forecaster Lisa White and Barcelona-based Sónar Music Festival bigwigs. Team SA included artist and fashion designer Doreen Southwood, her MeMeMe boutique co-owner and fashion blogger Milisuthando Bongela, and this month’s By Design subject, Durban’s Brendon Edwards (see page 25). Over canapés and dinner everyone enjoyed Veuve’s Yellow Label, Rosé and La Grande Dame, while pontificating about all things art and design.
