beatnik’s hoty

See how she’d spend the prize money…

We asked some of SA’s top design bloggers to tell us their choice for our prestigious House of the Year competition. We also wanted to know what they’d spend the R30 000 cash prize on. Beatnik Bazaar is a popular local design blog known for featuring the latest locally handmade products and other trendy goodies. She also runs a fabulous online store where you can shop till you drop. This is her interpretation of the HOTY moodboard challenge…

The Beatnik Super Splurge

The lovely people at House & Leisure asked me to take part in creating a collage of all the beautiful things I’d buy with the R30 000 they’re offering to a lucky reader, voting for their ‘House of the Year’ – courtesy of SA Home Loans. My choice is No. 4 ‘Creative Recreation’, because of it’s massive windows, inviting in tons of light and forest views. I also loved the photo of the bicycle, positioned perfectly in the kitchen! Thanks for letting me live out my dreams for a day, if only in my imagination.

I’ve kept my list as local as possible, because there is so much design talent right here. This is how I would spend R30 000, if I won the House & Leisure competition…

Uber Splurge

I’d spend the rest of the cash on one of these beautiful things. I don’t know what the prices are, but in my fantasies, they’re around R6000.
