Angel Rose Trading was one of the most talked about stands at Decorex Durban this year, thanks to owner Angela van Herzeele’s unique style. ‘I love surfing the web, looking through magazines, chatting to other creative people and basically surrounding myself with things that I consider beautiful, luxurious and positive – warm happy things!’ she told HL when quizzed about her inspiration. Angela uses recycled coffee sacks, which are made out of hessian and burlap, to make many of Angel Rose Trading’s products, giving them a distinctly French and bohemian feel.
Angel Rose Trading is an online store and stocks furniture, luggage, lighting, soft furnishings and accessories, all of which are designed by Angela, with the exception of the imported French style chairs. She says the name came from her love of vintage and a desire to incorporate her name into that of the business. ‘I love vintage, I’m a real romantic and I love roses. I always have some sort of flower in my hair or pinned onto me. My granny loved roses too. We used to call her Stella Rose.’
Angel Rose Trading is only online for now but Angela has big plans. ‘I love the idea of a trading store like in the good old days and it is my dream to own one – soon, I hope!’ For now, fans of Angela’s creations will have to be content with ordering them online from angelrosetrading.co.za. Look out for the bestselling wingback chairs and ottomans as well as Angela’s favourite item – the crocheted light ball.
